NCCI STARTS CROW TRAINING PROGRAM
The Crow (Apsáalooke)
Nation has big aspirations for many of its resources especially
its abundance of coal. By owning one of the biggest deposits
of coal in North America, the Apsáalooke people could
be overwhelmed by their upcoming Many Stars Coal To
Liquids (CTL) plant, a project they have agreed to build
with the Australian-American Energy company. With the
help of the Native Construction Careers Institute (NCCI)
they are preparing their tribal members for construction jobs
that are happening on and near the Crow Reservation now,
and planning for the future where the CTL plant and mine
construction could reach up four thousand.
It’s also been estimated that the mine would employ two to
three hundred people permanently and the CTL project could
possibly employ between five and six hundred operations and
maintenance people which could mean a stable economy for
the reservation with small business opportunities and the jobs
